Sauvie Island.

This morning I decided to check out the Wapato Access Greenway State Park Trail on Sauvie Island.  Lucky for Jake, dogs are permitted on the trail.  We spent about an hour and a half wandering around there.

There were lots of American Robins flitting from tree to tree.

This White-breasted Nuthatch didn't seem to mind my horrendous coughing fit.

This looks like a junco, but I'm not sure..

Lots of Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers, and Mallards swimming in Virginia Lake.

After our hike I drove around the island a bit..

This Red-tailed Hawk was a bit camera shy.

This Bald Eagle perched along the Multnomah Channel definitely did not want to be my friend.

A pair of domestic ducks in the channel.

I am not sure what kind of deer this is, and I am still not convinced it is even real.  I don't think he moved the whole time I was taking pictures...

Snow Geese and Canada Geese coming in for a landing...

These geese were in someone's yard... They also look fake to me.  Am I crazy?

And lastly, a pair of Bald Eagles keeping watch over one of the main curves in the road.

  1. White-breasted Nuthatch...Cool! Yes, that is a junco and the "geese" on the water look like domesticated ducks. And yes, those do look kinda like fake geese don't they? Seems odd though, considering there are so many real ones about. You sure get out birding a lot!
