Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.

I spent part of my morning at Crystal Springs, hoping for some good birds and some good flowers...

There were lots of flowers but it seemed there were tons that had yet to bloom.

The birds I saw were all usual suspects...

Mallard

 Canada Goose

Bufflehead

 Double-crested Cormorant

Wood Duck

American Crow

Chestnut-backed Chickadee

Red-winged Blackbird

Lesser Scaup

Although there were no new or exciting birds it was still a beautiful place to take a morning walk!

  1. Lovely shots! I haven't had the good fortune of seeing a wood duck yet. I have seen the buffleheads (they are so tiny) but haven't been able to get close enough for a shot.

  2. Very nice. I don't know if I've ever noticed a Chestnut-backed Chickadee. Cute little guy. Looks like he's wearing a vest.

  4. OH-excellent photos!! Love the composition of that top shot...well done!
Looks like a beautiful garden to visit!! WE had another WHOPPER Thunder and lightning display last night with a torrential downpour-so a lot of the flowers were beaten to the ground~ugh!

  5. How cool that you've captured a few gathering nesting material! I'm assuming that's what the cormorant is doing, though I don't know where they breed around there.
