I managed to get out a lot last weekend but didn't manage to post all the birds I saw yet... Here are some of 'em....
Greater White-fronted Goose, Westmoreland Park
I visited Pittock Mansion for the first time ever... I know, I've lived in Portland for just shy of ten years now... It was about time! The place is just swimming in Varied Thrushes!
And the mansion itself....
Pretty impressive. I figured I should visit Washington Park while I was in the area. I mostly wandered around the rose gardens where I was greeted by a loud towhee...
Just below the rose garden is a path that leads either back up to the garden store or down to the reservoir. I heard some knocking in one of the trees and found a pair of Red-breasted Sapsuckers! At one point they flew to a tree pretty close to me...
Such striking birds! I spent some time at Ridgefield one afternoon hoping to see the recently arrived Common Yellowthroats... Success!
Can't wait to see more warblers show up. Also at Ridgefield, a Belted Kingfisher allowed me three quick shots before taking off (three more than usual!).
That's all... Good weekend!!

ReplyDeleteWow! I've yet to get a Varied Thrush and I really like the woodpecker shots and the Kingfisher shot. It's great how you get around to so many different venues to shoot. I need to get out more myself! Great stuff!
