Fall.

Yep, I'm psyched for fall.  The weather is finally cooling off, there are pumpkin ales everywhere, and the trees and lighting are just plain splendid.  SPLENDID.

Fall has always been my favorite season.  I love all the things that go along with it- sweatshirts, raking leaves, Halloween decorations, and now that I'm a birder: the return of masses of rad birds.  Sandhill Cranes in particular make me ridiculously happy...

I have been psyched on the return of other birds as well... Geese, kinglets, sparrows, Purple Finches, and just yesterday a Varied Thrush...

Of course the creatures that stick around all year are always nice to see too, like a nice coyote family...

And I'm always a sucker for blackbirds on a fence...

Yay fall!

  2. omg, really?!? I've NEVER SEEN the back feathers on a RWBB like that IN MY LIFE. Wow!!! And cranes + giant moon? Swoon!
And the bird I miss most of all, after leaving Mt. Rainier, is the Varied Thrush. Their song floating through tall forests is one of the most wonderful things I've experienced in nature. So mysterious and evocative. =)

  4. Fall really is the best season...only it doesn't really exist here in Florida. At least we do get the pumpkin ales, and the migratory birds. Great shot of the Varied Thrush!

  5. Ooooh, I'll have to try that Elysian! That's not a home brew with one of your GHOW shots on it, is it?

    1. Haha, I wish it was homebrew. The beer itself was kind of a letdown- I tried the Laurelwood pumpkin ale last night and it is far superior.
