Recent birds.

Greetings.  It's been a whole week since my last post.  In addition to being busy my internet has been totally terrible. Brilliant me just realized I had another cable jack that I could plug my modem into that works fantastically so here we go!

All of my birding lately has been from dog walks or the yard...

Spotted Towhee, Mason Wetlands
Lesser Goldfinches, yard
Eurasian Collared-Dove, yard
 Dead fish, Columbia River
Live fish, Columbia River
American Crow, divebombing a Red-tailed along Marine Drive
Cooper's (yes?) Hawk, near Marine Drive
Asylum of loons, Columbia River

Yesterday I saw my first Osprey of the year, who promptly showed off his fishing skills by catching a fish right in front of me... 



 As the Osprey flew off a Bald Eagle showed up and attempted a similar fishing feat.  And failed.


Good times!!

    oooh your new header is so brooding...it makes me feel ways about stuff.

    Groovy shots there.
    I saw a Eurasian Collared out in the middle of the woods by Flagstaff (Northern AZ). It pissed me off. I thought I was supposed to be safe from those invasive birds out in the wild.

    Good to see that you've already found your way back to the birds.BTW-My post about EBCA was an April Fool's joke but nobody clicked on the link that gives it away. I'm glad you picked up on the word elite because it was my hope to get that type of response!

    Hi Jen, cool sighting of the Osprey and the Eagle fishing or trying to fish. I love the cute Lesser goldfinches and the Hawk is awesome capture. Great post, happy birding!

    Sweet birds in your post...the fishing birds are so smart! I havent been birding anywhere but my own yard for a while my yard birds are like my buddies!

    Haven't seen an Osprey yet this year, but saw a Turkey Vulture the other day. All the migrants will be here any day! Yea! I was worried about you- no post all week long ;)

    Looks like your yard Goldfinches were having a little spat. Cool shot of the Osprey with the fresh catch. I was photographing a few of them from my yard today:)
