HOW-ever I can appreciate the fact that leg bands would not show up if the bird is on the water, and it has helped to record this fabulous history of that individual. I send the photo and coords to the local researchers, who wonderfully respond with details, ala "that's 44F - she's a 3-year old female that was collared on _____ day, at _____ place, and here's the map of her home range..."
