Ridgefield NWR 05-09-10

I headed up to Ridgefield early yesterday to check out the Kiwa Trail finally...

A tree full of Turkey Vultures greeted me...

Interesting pose for a snipe.

Next up was a Mallard mama and her ducklings...

Adorable.

It was a beautiful morning on the trail..

Another snipe perched somewhere odd.

A couple of geese and their goslings...

Some Sandhill Cranes flew by...

A pretty turtle and a fatty nutria...

I watched this eagle chase off a crow and chow down on something on the ground... Never saw what it was but he went to town on it for quite awhile...
The second he took off, two more eagles swooped in...

And took off with the leftovers... I think I even saw them rinse it in the water..

It was a great scene...
